In every thing you do, preparation is key. So you need to be prepared for any speaking engagement you have by writing down what you want to say, editing it and practicing.

Practice.
After you’ve prepared what you have to say for your speaking engagement, the next thing is practice.
There are no strict rules to practicing, practice! practice!! practice!!! Until you are a master at it.

Now you have done all the needed things you need to do.
But you need the right motives to prepare for your speech.
If you ask yourself why this speech and what it would impart on the audience, you would be able to put in the right energy to prepare for your speech.

Yes, you can’t prepare without your audience in mind.
You are going to talk to them, so ask yourself questions what do my audience want, what answers do they seek to have.
